What is a small group?

Simply put, a small group is a small group of people who come together intentionally to develop meaningful relationships and grow in their faith together. Small groups can include Sunday school, social circles, and bible studies but their main purpose is relational in nature. Scripture defines the small group as such:

  • A group that continues to reach, grow and multiply (Matt. 28:19-20)
  • A group where community and fellowship take place (Matt. 22:37,39)
  • A group that focuses on learning the Word to live it (2 Peter 3:18)
  • A group where prayer and ministry takes place (Gal. 6:10)
  • A group where people learn to use their gifts (Ecc. 11:4)

Seeking community is an essential component of Christian life. Within the context of a small group we find significant opportunities to mature in our faith, strengthen our relationship with Christ, and become one with other believers.

Why SMall GROUPS?

-God designed us to be relational and we all have an innate need for meaningful relationships-

The mission of our church is to help people grow in their relationship with Christ, mature in their faith, and become disciples. We believe that a person who is continuing to mature in their faith is meaningfully and intentionally connecting with other believers.

-We all tend to drift away from God and so we need one another for mutual encouragement, hope, support, love, and accountability-

Jesus is our model for all that we do and He operated within a small group of close personal relationships. One of Christ's last prayers before being crucified was to ask God to extend to us the same relationship with one another as He had experienced with the Father. Jesus prayed for us to be as unified with each other as He was with the Father. Our unity, our oneness, is fulfilled by connecting with other people, living life together, and sharing in all the joys and sorrows life has to offer.

-Small groups offer meaningful relationships representative of how Christ would have us live and grow in our faith-
