The office of Deacon as set forth in Scripture is one of sympathy, witness, and service after the example of Jesus Christ. We seek for persons of spiritual character, honest repute, of exemplary lives, brotherly an sisterly love, warm sympathies, and sound judgment as Deacons at CPC. The Board of twelve Deacons meets on the 1st Monday night of each month.
The Board of Deacons is involved in these ministries:
Ushering - providing ushering services for Sunday morning worship services and for special services, including the maintenance of supplies in the pews
Flowers - scheduling for floral arrangements for worship services, with sensitivity to anniversaries.
Holy Communion - providing for the communion elements, whether the Sunday be traditional format or intinction format
Transportation - caring for those Members and Friends of the congregation who have occasional needs to get here or there.
Greeters - scheduling for volunteers from the congregation to greet their fellows on Sunday mornings.
Bereavement - working with the pastoral staff to provide reception and house sitting services in the context of memorial services when our loved ones go to be with our Lord.
Shut-ins - coordinating with our pastoral staff to ensure that all of those who are shut-in at home have regular contact with caring individuals within the church.
Stephen Ministers - Over the years, CPC has trained well over 100 people in this lay pastoral care ministry
Baby Bibles - ensuring that a child-friendly Bible is provided to each and every new baby born within the congregation
Ministry of Cards - cards are sent to persons within the congregation on special occasions and when people are sick or in need of special encouragement
Good Samaritans - a vital ministry of compassion that offers a 'band-aid' of limited help for those in need; the congregation supports the Deacon Fund with a special offering on the first Sunday of each month. For longer term, life-changing help, we offer a ministry called New Focus
