CPC Spiritual Formation
TheSpiritual Growth Ministry Team is composed of men and women who have a vision to bring the practice of deepened spirituality to the congregation. The Team meets monthly for visioning, evaluation, and devotional reflection.
The Team facilitates a healing ministry. Healing prayer is offered after both worship services on the second Sunday of each month, and by healing teams who go to the homes of our church family to pray and anoint with oil. Through these activities, the blessing of healing ministry is beginning to be felt at CPC. Training in healing ministry is available.
The Team also promotes prayer ministry within the congregation. Regular
prayer meetings are held each Thursday morning in the sanctuary from 7:00 to 7:30 AM, and on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 7:45 to 9:00 AM in the Church, upstairs in the senior high room. All are welcome to join us! Additionally, over the past several months the Team
has hosted mornings of prayer, mini "prayer vigils", for different ministry teams within the church. Several ministry teams have already participated in this wonderful opportunity for prayer, an hour of silent prayer with the entire team gathered in the sanctuary, and discussion afterward. This vision for congregational prayer continues to unfold, as different teams and committees are contacted and "catch the vision" of prayer being the first work of ministry.
Many Team members (and others within the congregation) have become an active part of the Dunamis Project, a series of six conferences on how to minister in the power of the Holy Spirit, developed by Presbyterian-Reformed Ministries International, a PCUSA-related renewal organization.
The Team also provides teaching on and the development of covenant groups in the life of the congregation. A covenant group is Christ-centered small group whose purpose is to help one another deepen our spiritual lives. It is not a prayer group though prayer is a part of the time together. It is not a support group though support is given and received. It is not a Bible study though the Bible is used by the Group. It is a group that focuses on what God has done, is doing, and will do in our lives as those who 'covenant' together begin practicing spiritual disciplines, and working to hold one another accountable to a deeper relationship with Jesus.
