Mother's Day Out

Community Presbyterian Church operates the Mothers’ Day Out program to provide a community service and outreach. Quality care for infants, toddlers and preschoolers at a reasonable cost is difficult to find, especially for “stay at home” parents. MDO offers inexpensive, part-time and drop-in care, giving parents a brief break in their daily routine while providing a safe and developmentally appropriate environment for children to grow through play. MDO operates Monday-Friday during the traditional school year, from 9am to 1pm. Summer hours of operation are determined yearly.

MDO is licensed by the California Department of Social Services. We operate in accordance with the laws and regulations relating to licensing of full-time children’s day care facilities. MDO currently has four programs available for children ages 0 to pre-kindergarten. For more information or reservations, you may call MDO at 707-448-5159. Reservations are required. In the event your child cannot come on a scheduled day, you are required to call and cancel your reservation thus allowing someone else to “drop-in” for the day. Standing reservations are available for up to two days per week during the school year and one day per week in the summer. Registration for fall classes takes place each spring. Our teachers are ECE qualified, CPR certified and trained in first aide for children and adults.

Programs

INFANTS 0 TO 24 MONTHS
The Infant program has facilities for up to eight children. Infants are lovingly cared for by at least one ECE trained infant teacher and one additional teacher or aide. We ask that you provide whatever food, diapers and essentials may be necessary for your child’s comfort for the morning. We have a refrigerator and microwave available in the room for your convenience. The fee for this program is $25 per visit.

TODDLERS 18 TO 36 MONTHS
The Toddler program has facilities for up to eight children daily. Toddlers move up from the infant room at different ages, based on social and physical development. Toddlers are introduced to art, music, science and literature at their own developmental level while being lovingly supervised by two ECE trained teachers. We ask that you provide a nutritious lunch including a two-food-group snack and beverage along with diapers and a change of clothing as necessary. We have a refrigerator and microwave available in the room for your convenience. Weather permitting; we go outside everyday on our Infant/Toddler playground. The fee for this program is $25 per visit.

2 TO PRE-K PROGRAM
This playgroup has facilities for up to 15 children per day and is supervised by at least two ECE trained teachers. We ask that you provide a nutritious lunch with a drink and a healthy two-food-group snack, along with diapers and a change of clothes as necessary.

Each day we offer an age appropriate art project along with music, science, children’s literature, outdoor play and supervised socialization. The fee for this program is $25 per visit.

AFTER PEP LUNCH BUNCH
This program is available to children who attend the PEP am classes at CPC. PEP is dismissed daily at 11:30. The Lunch Bunch program was developed to PEP children can play and eat lunch with MDO children and staff, extending their day until 1pm. This allows parents who have children in both programs to pick up their children at the same time. We ask that you provide a nutritious lunch and drink for your child. The fee for this program is calculated monthly and due at the first of each month when PEP tuition is paid; $30 per month for one day of Lunch Bunch per week and $60 per month for two days. Daily drop-in spaces are sometimes available for $8 and require a reservation.

Please feel free to drop in and visit us a Mothers’ Day Out. We are located in the Community Presbyterian Church at 425 Hemlock Street, across from Hemlock Elementary School. Routines vary in each program, so whatever time is good for you to visit between 9 and 1, will be good for us too!

We look forward to meeting you and your children, Margaret S. Jacobs, MDO Director
